Change is a constant in life
Change is a constant in life, but significant transitions can be both exciting and daunting. After a 25-year career in Training and Education, I found the courage to follow my long-term desire to study holistic counseling after overcoming a few obstacles that led me back to my life long dream. I want to share my journey with you, to show that it's never too late to chase your dreams, and there's no one "right" or "wrong" way to pursue your career path.
A life dedicated to training and education
For a quarter of a century, I found fulfillment and success in Training and Education. The work was rewarding, but deep within, a spark was waiting to be ignited. A dream was calling, one that required me to step out of my comfort zone and into the unknown.
The spark of desire: Holistic counseling
I had always felt a pull towards holistic counselling, an approach that sees the person as a whole and addresses mind, body, spirit, and emotions. It was a field that resonated with my core beliefs and values, and yet, for years, I had put it aside. But dreams have a way of resurfacing, especially those that align with our true selves.
The decision to change: Embracing the unknown
Making the decision to change careers after so long wasn't easy. It was fraught with fear, doubt, and countless questions. Was it too late? Was I making a mistake? But with reflection, support, and a belief in myself, I knew that it was time to follow my heart, my passion and my purpose.
The journey back to school: challenges and triumphs
Going back to school after so many years was both challenging and exhilarating. There were new skills to learn, adjustments to make, but also fresh insights to gain and a renewed passion to explore. I immersed myself in studies, and the dream that once seemed so distant began to take shape.
The rewards of following your passion
Today, as a holistic counselor, I feel aligned with my purpose and passion. The journey has taught me that it's never too late to make decisions about your career pathway, and there's no standardized "right" or "wrong" way to pursue your dreams.
Transition and purpose
My transition from a 25-year career in Training and Education to studying holistic counseling was a leap of faith. But it has affirmed that age or time spent in one field should never be barriers to following what calls to your heart.
If you find yourself at a crossroads, yearning for change, know that your path is yours to create. Embrace the possibility, trust in your passion, and allow yourself to explore, learn, and grow. Your dreams are waiting, and it's never too late to reach for them.
With hope and encouragement, Tersia Woodenbeg (SoulCheck)
